The network of e-charging stations will be expanded continuously over the next few years. The company hesotec electrify gmbh uses a robot welding cell from OTC DAIHEN EUROPE GmbH to manufacture e-charging stations – and these are welded with the ABITIG® WH 400 W from ABICOR BINZEL.

hesotec electrify was looking for an automated production solution in order to be able to create a seamless connection between the cut stainless steel charging station tube and the welding plate for the electronic inlay. The welding specialist Krone had the right idea in this case: The welding robot cell »EASY ARC« from OTC DAIHEN EUROPE.

This mobile station consists of the TIG welding power source Welbee A350P, the OTC welding robot FD-V8, the liquid cooled robot welding torch ABITIG® WH-PP 400 W, a welding table for the clamping elements and a horizontal rotary positioner. A modular housing ensures safety. OTC_News_Chargers_2

The ABITIG® WH-PP 400 W and the ABITIG® WH 400 W belong to the standard equipment of the welding robot cell EASY ARC from OTC DAIHEN EUROPE in TIG applications. The welding task for this automated production solution required a cold wire feed. The combination of the »Pull-Feeder« from ABICOR BINZEL and the »Push-Feeder« from OTC result in high-precision wire feed and feeding – even with pulsed processes.

The abbreviation »WH« used for the ABITIG® WH 400 W stands for »changeable neck system«. This is an interface that allows the torch head to be changed manually or automatically within a few seconds. This may be necessary to exchange the tungsten electrode or to use a torch head with a different geometry if different seams are to be welded with the system.

Absolute precision of visible seams

Despite the wire feed, especially its slim design makes the ABITIG® WH-PP 400 W an ideal robot welding torch, because it enables optimal access to the weld seams. The high rigidity of the system realizes a precise feeding and centering of the filler material to the TIG arc.

The seams to be welded are all stainless steel visible seams. Automated TIG welding is ideally suited for the material thickness and quality – laser-cut and precisely fitting. Together with the OTC welding robot, specially designed for TIG processes, with the integrated robot rotation axis, the ABITIG® WH-PP 400 W provides an optimal complete solution for automated precision work.

Another component from ABICOR BINZEL that is used in this robot welding cell, in addition to the cable assembly for the robot torch, is the CAT torch mount with switch-off function for standard robots with externally guided cable assemblies. In the event of a crash, it is released immediately, protecting the robot and welding equipment.

Because electric cars and charging stations are becoming more and more important and demand is constantly increasing, the ABITIG® WH-PP 400 W integrated into the TIG robot welding cell EASY ARC from OTC at hesotec electrify gmbh can make a small contribution to CO2-free and environmentally friendly driving.
