ABICOR BINZEL LASER SYSTEMS exhibited for the first time at the EALA "European Automotive Laser Applications" – with a new development on show.

Several times a year, Bad Nauheim in the heart of Hesse is a popular meeting place for international automobile manufacturers. From February 7th to 8th 2023, laser and optics manufacturers provided information in lectures and at presentation stands about the latest developments and laser application options in automotive engineering. For the first time, ABICOR BINZEL was there with an own stand including a team of four laser experts and, in addition to the presentation of several products, had the opportunity to hold many interesting and sometimes very future-oriented discussions. The focus was on a new product from ABICOR BINZEL, which was developed in cooperation with PT Photonic Tools GmbH: the tactile laser optics MPH Tactile.

Visitors: System integrators and automotive manufacturers

The main discussion partners at the ABICOR BINZEL stand were system integrators and automotive manufacturers. In particular, questions arised to what extent the tactile laser optics MPH Tactile differs from the competition and when tests can be carried out, both at the ABICOR BINZEL headquarters and directly at the customer's premises. In addition, constructive discussions were held with laser manufacturers to ensure the use and compatibility of their own laser optics.

Serious competitor ABICOR BINZEL

"It was also interesting that competitors came to our stand to get information," emphasizes Jan Neubert, Head of Laser Technology at ABICOR BINZEL. The world market leader for arc welding technology is now also perceived as a serious competitor when it comes to laser applications. "Our MPH Tactile definitely is on par with comparable optics shown at the trade fair."

There was consistently positive feedback on the tactile laser optics MPH Tactile – the joint development of ABICOR BINZEL and PT Photonic Tools.

Strong partnerships in laser business

Each product is only as good as the team behind it. For all new laser developments, ABICOR BINZEL can rely on strong partners, most of whom met at the European Automotive Laser Applications (EALA) in Bad Nauheim: Blackbird Robotersysteme GmbH for remote laser welding, Lessmüller Lasertechnik GmbH for process visualisation and monitoring , SmartRay GmbH for 3D weld inspection, 4D Photonics GmbH for laser process monitoring and PT Photonic Tools GmbH for tactile laser optics.

For two days, the trade fair offered a diverse program on the following topics:

  • Laser welding in e-mobility
  • Weld seam inspection
  • Laser forming
  • Safety
  • Manipulation of material properties
  • Data analysis
  • Laser systems
  • New laser appplications

EALA addresses car bodybuilders, managing directors and application experts from OEMs, suppliers and service providers as well as experts from institutes. In general, this trade fair provides an interesting platform for everyone who is involved in laser applications, especially in the automotive sector.

We are already looking forward to EALA 2024!
