The industry is currently facing major challenges: Economic uncertainties, a growing shortage of skilled workers, and increasing demands for sustainability and digitalization are putting pressure on companies worldwide. ABICOR BINZEL will continue to follow the trends in welding technology in the new year. On the other hand, the focus will clearly be on manual welding torches and consumables – because this is what partners, dealers and users expect.
Welding trends 2025
Current trends in welding technology focus on two key topics: Automation and the health and safety of welders.
Automation – more efficient welding
The shortage of skilled workers is increasing the demand for automated solutions. Cobots (collaborative robots) such as the iBOTone® open up new possibilities: They perform repetitive welding tasks, deliver consistent quality, and work hand-in-hand with humans. Welding cobots are so easy to operate that they can be programmed by a welder, or a trained operator can take over after the parameters have been set by a skilled worker. The welder can then focus on more challenging tasks. This makes welding cobots such as the iBOTone® a valuable asset for companies of all sizes, even for low-volume production.
Intelligent partial automation solutions are also in demand, such as TIG torch or electrode changing systems. These and similar automation solutions help make manufacturing even more productive.
Health protection – a priority for welders
In addition to automation, health protection is becoming increasingly important. Not only is the physical strain of welding a factor, but welding fumes pose a significant health risk to welders and others in the production hall. The air in the working environment can be significantly improved with fume extraction torches. Further innovations from ABICOR BINZEL in this area are in preparation.
"Back to the roots" – focus on the core business
The year 2025 is all about what our brand ABICOR BINZEL stands for: high-quality welding torches and consumables that have been firmly established on the world market for decades. At the same time, innovation and adaptability remain important aspects, not only to meet current requirements, but also to actively shape future trends.
Particularly exciting: For 2026, we are preparing the introduction of new manual TIG and MIG/MAG torch lines – specially developed to meet the growing demands of welding technology.
ABICOR GROUP: broad product portfolio from one source
Since February 2024, the ABICOR GROUP unites the strong global brands of IBG Industrie-Beteiligungs-Gesellschaft in the areas of cutting, welding, systems and components. All combined brands share a common goal: to offer high quality products and system solutions that meet the needs of our customers.
Our customers clearly benefit from the integration into the ABICOR GROUP. Our aim is to provide a central point of contact in all countries where there used to be several contact partners. This reduces complexity and improves efficiency – especially for larger projects, for example in shipbuilding, where welding and cutting technology often go hand in hand.
Guiding principle "people | planet | progress" – A vision for all
In addition, ABICOR BINZEL's guiding principle "people | planet | progress – because we care" has now been extended to the entire ABICOR GROUP. It reflects the corporate values of the individual brands and forms the foundation for what drives us as a member of the ABICOR GROUP and can be found in all our products and services:
- people: The focus is on our customers, partners, employees and everyone we work with.
- planet: Sustainable products that conserve resources and offer longevity.
- progress: Innovative product solutions that set standards and help shape the future.
Exhibitions and events
All trade fairs and similar events will take place under the ABICOR GROUP from 2025. In the coming year, we will be present at a number of exhibitions, including the Laser World of Photonics in Munich and the Australian Manufacturing Week in Melbourne.
As we have deliberately decided not to take part in the "SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN" trade fair in Essen, we will be holding customer events in several countries. For example, you can look forward to an exclusive customer event at our ABICOR BINZEL headquarters in Buseck. Last year's customer days showed us once again how important it is to have a direct exchange with our customers, partners, welding dealers, integrators and many other players in the industry. Therefore, we will not only repeat the event, but also expand it – together with other brands of the ABICOR GROUP.
Conclusion
ABICOR BINZEL is optimistic about the future despite the challenges in the industry. With new innovative products that follow the megatrends in the industry and at the same time a clear focus on our core business, we want to meet the needs of our customers and partners, and therefore all users, even better. Under the roof of the ABICOR GROUP, this approach will be taken even further.
