Emil Schubert takes over the office from Robert Stöckl from EWM, the former EWA President during the past four years. For the European Welding Association this means to have a real expert in welding technology and also an experienced strategist and doer at the top who, among other things, has set the goal of strongly promoting health and safety in welding.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Emil Schubert already held the office of Vice President of the EWA for the past four years. Founded in 1987, the industrial association for European manufacturers of welding equipment and filler metals, offers its member companies a valuable platform for an exchange of ideas with specialist colleagues. Various specialist groups promote the further development of the welding technology industry and Emil Schubert is already actively involved in the areas of »Equipment« and »Health & Safety«.

Support and protect welders as best as possible

It is a known fact that welding is a very stressing profession for the human body, but special products can only be manufactured by welding. This is why welding specialists must be supported and protected as much as possible. As the new EWA President, Emil Schubert plans to bring the two major areas of the EWA − filler metal and welding equipment − closer together through various activities in the area of health and safety. In his role as President of the European Welding Association, he wants to “make a big leap forward in science and occupational medicine and to ensure healthy working conditions for male and female welders”. He is very familiar with this topic, as it has always been an essential criteria and focus for him when it comes to new designs, developments and optimizations of welding torches and corresponding equipment.

The former president of the EWA, Robert Stöckl, says about the new EWA President Emil Schubert: “I congratulate my successor and I think it's very good that the new president has also an agenda of his own - with a focus on Health & Safety”.
