Because the shortage of qualified staff is a serious problem. We are therefore all the more pleased that this year six new apprentices and one dual study programme participant are starting their professional future with ABICOR BINZEL.

For more than 20 years, ABICOR BINZEL has been active in the field of laser welding and brazing with its leading wire feeding systems. In 14 years of cooperation with globally renowned customers in the automotive industry and the long-standing technology leader for tactile brazing and welding optics, ABICOR BINZEL has continuously expanded its international expertise in laser joining. On July 1^st, 2022, a new era in LASER SYSTEMS will now begin for ABICOR BINZEL.

Welded components are increasingly subject to quality assurance. Production companies in the automotive industry in particular demand reliable testing systems for the welding quality, which can also be traced if necessary, such as in the case of product recalls. Thanks to the cooperation with SmartRay signed at the headquarters of ABICOR BINZEL, it is now possible for us as a system provider to also offer a so-called end-of-line test procedure worldwide – and thus sustainably optimised welding processes for the highest quality assurance.

Occupational safety and environmental protection in welding technology are becoming increasingly important. The DVS (= German Welding Society) expert committee for this topic meets twice a year and discusses current activities and developments in this field. After two years with only online meetings, the working group came together at ABICOR BINZEL and was able to experience the new developments in action and hands-on.

Manufacturing companies have to face an increasing shortage of welding specialists. In order to counteract this, well thought-out technologies are needed to avoid interfering with the production conditions and at the same time relieve the welding specialists employed. ABICOR BINZEL now offers such technology solutions with robust, reliable robot welding torches and an extensive knowledge of products, processes and applications in joining technology together with the Danish company Inrotech A/S, a company which develops intelligent, adaptive and sensor-supported robot technology. With this cooperation, both companies are pooling their specialist knowledge and offer innovative automation solutions, especially to production companies where robot welding has not yet been a topic.

Everywhere in production processes, it is checked which parameters can be considered in order to save costs. However, little or no consideration is given to the gas factor. This may change due to gas prices, which are currently increasing sharply, but shielding gas is essential for gas-shielded welding. The EWR 2 or EWR 2 Net gas management system from ABICOR BINZEL offers a solution for saving shielding gas consumption, which can be easily implemented in any welding process – for manual welding as well as robotic welding. But a fundamental question arises: is such a system worthwhile at all? And how high are the possible cost savings in your own production? A series of fortunate circumstances resulted in ABICOR BINZEL's contribution to the success of a pioneering project: the construction of prototypes for so-called GapS panels. These self-cleaning carbon capture air purification devices will soon be attached to the facades of buildings in large cities to improve the air quality In and outside of the building. In this way, 15 to 20 tons of CO₂ per panel and per building can be captured each year. 

Professionally qualified welders are hard to find, production has to cut down on costs and the quantities to be manufactured are skyrocketing. Small and medium-sized manufacturing companies that previously only employed manual welders are no longer questioning whether they should invest in automation, but rather how they can get started.

What everyone has been waiting for: The first customer event after a forced break of one and a half years. More than 80 BestPartners were welcomed directly or in person over two theme days with numerous product highlights.
